![]() That’s why it was advertised as a breakfast coffee, since it’s great to drink first thing in the morning. The Original Envivo Lungo is defintely a great coffee, and I’m gonna miss it. I can’t get over the fact that the Cape Town Envivo Lungo has a slight harshness as part of the aftertaste, which makes me wonder why Nespresso changed the formula. They both have after notes I think the Cape Town has more (light) bitter and spicy after notes, and the Original Envivo has more of a (light) bitter and malty after notes. When drinking the two to compare them, I tended not to have the desire to even drink the Cape Town, the Original Envivo Lungo was just so much better that you just want to finish it all. The Cape Town would be more of a coffee you would drink if you want a kick in the morning. My favorite of the two is the Original Envivo Lungo, because of the smooth malty flavor and sweetness, almost reminds me of toast and would be good with breakfast. The Cape Town is not sweet, and is more like a woody and spicy flavor. ![]() When sipping and slurping, the Original Envivo Lungo is smooth and malty, almost like a cookie (or gingerbread). The Cape Town crema tastes harsher then the original Envivo, and the Envivo crema tastes sweeter. The crema is almost identical on both of them, but the Cape Town crema appears darker and slightly thinner. I’m getting more of a light spicy and woody aroma to the Cape Town. If you are interested in other Lungos to try out, check out my review of the Nespresso Fortissio Lungo, or the Linizio Lungo, or the Vivalto Lungo. The original Envivo Lungo definitely has light and sweet caramel notes to it that are not present in the Cape Town. It’s a variety that you can drink every morning without getting bored. The final result is: The Envivo Lungo makes a great morning/breakfast coffee that wakes you up and gives you that warm wonderful feeling. The smells of Nespresso Gran Crus can fill the room and give you that wonderful wake up experience. The crema is dark and has a strong lasting smell. The Envivo Lungo has a nut-like aroma possibly like roasted peanuts. Possibly like gingerbread as described by Nespresso. It has a bit of bitter after flavor (probably from the Mexican Robusta), which is very nice. The Envivo Lungo to me, has a sweet, mellow, and mild taste. I’ve discovered this Javascript Coffee Wheel, which helped me figure out how to describe the various tastes and aromas. The ease of brewing a Nespresso Gran Cru capsule Whereas with a Nespresso Gran Cru capsule, that’s all done for you automatically, no fuss or muss just press a button and in 32 seconds or less your perfect Lungo or Espresso is done. Just compare if you had an Espresso machine: You have to purchase fresh coffee regularly, and keep it fresh, grind it perfectly, tamp it perfectly, and finally pour it perfectly. I also want to mention that each Nespresso capsule variety is a Gran Cru, and each is well worth the cost. I’m very new to being able to taste differences in coffee, and ever since I purchased my Nespresso Inissia Espresso machine by DeLonghi I’ve been drinking my coffee black (without sugar, creme or milk), and have been enjoying the taste of pure coffee. The dates are shown in two formats, namely DD.MM.YY and YY.MM.DD so that there is absolutely no confusion as to the dates. Each sleeve is date stamped at the end showing the date of production and the best before date. The Nespresso Envivo Lungo box is using the standard 10 capsule cardboard (recyclable) sleeve with orange colored end. The Packaging Envivo Lungo box and capsules The coffee used is both an Arabica from India and a Robusta from Mexico. This article is about the Nespresso Envivo Lungo Original Line capsule which meets that criteria. After trying many Nespresso Original Line capsules, I’ve been trying to figure out what is the best Lungo to drink in the morning.
